Tommy, is a longtime customer and friend to Achieve Mobility, LLC. The slogan of Achieve Mobility is “For Life on the Go”. Mr. Tommy sent his mobility consultant, Rick Gordy, a picture that truly embodied the definition of our slogan and the gift of the freedom of mobility we give to each of our customers. After seeing the picture of Mr. Tommy I decided to talk with him about what life on the go means to him, in an effort to try and inspire others and in the end Mr. Tommy inspired me.
Brittnay: So, Mr. Tommy how did you first hear about us (Achieve Mobility)?
Mr. Tommy: Years ago, it was another location in Charlotte that specialized in vans. It’s not here anymore, but I knew Rick Gordy, he was a good friend of mine, and he had worked at the other place. I can’t remember exactly where it was, but I saw an ad for Achieve Mobility, and I looked up the address, and I decided to come in one Saturday morning and that’s what I did.
Brittnay: When you were shopping for your van, what did you look for in a company?
Mr. Tommy: Actually, I had been using a car, folding my own chair using my transfer seat to get into the car, all on my own, but it seemed the cars were getting smaller and smaller. One of my friend mentioned to me that I need to get a van because it would be less work for me and strain on my shoulders. Never had I used a van or a lift until the first Saturday morning that I came to visit Achieve Mobility.

Brittnay: Well Mr. Tommy I appreciate you taking the time to visit us that Saturday morning, now we have the privilege of having done business with you for all these years. Mr. Tommy tell me a little more about yourself.
Mr. Tommy: Well Brittnay, I am an SC native. I am 57 years old, I am a paraplegic, and I have been for over 40 years. I got my first wheelchair at age 17. I fell and chipped three vertebrates, the fragments of the bone from my spinal cord caused an infection and after about three or four surgeries I was completely paralyzed and that’s been about 40 years. I was blessed to have lots of good friends and a good family. I’ve been this way for 40 years and I make the best of it. Don’t give up and don’t let life get you down. If there’s a will there’s a way to get it done. I lean on the good Lord and I thank Him for giving me the ambition to think of ways to still get the things I like to do done.
Brittnay: Mr. Tommy you just touched on this question a little, but what does our slogan, “For Life on the Go” mean to you?
Mr. Tommy: No matter what the situation. Get up and go with it. Don’t give up. Go with things. Don’t be a quitter. I mean if there is a mountain in front of you, you might not be able to climb it, but whether you go across it or around it, you still get to the other side, as long as you get there.

Brittnay: Mr. Tommy thank you so much for explaining what life on the go means to you. My last question for you, is what keeps you coming back to Achieve Mobility?
Mr. Tommy: I will always come back. I like the service, the friendship, and the loyalty. Everybody at Achieve Mobility has been really good to me. I would put a gold star by Rick’s name, but everyone has been good to me. They have been very helpful to me all these years.
Brittnay: Mr. Tommy thank you for the opportunity and we look forward to continue serving all of your mobility needs just as we have done for years. Thank you.
